A Drive, a Dip, and No Plans at All
A road that hugs the sea, and a sea that makes you stay.
Albania is the coast everyone thought was already spoken for. The road runs south beside the water, drops down to a bay nobody has mentioned to anyone else, and climbs again — so the day becomes a series of small decisions: stop here, or keep going for ten minutes and find somewhere better?
You always find somewhere better.
The Drive South
Give it more days than feels reasonable. The distances look short on a map and take far longer in practice, which is the point — there are villages to pass through, fisherman to buy lunch from, and viewpoints where the road bends and the whole coastline appears at once.
Fill up when you can, carry cash for the small places, and start early so the good bays are still quiet when you reach them.
Choosing Your Swim
The water is the reason people stay. It's that particular blue that only happens where the seabed is pale stone, so you can see your own feet, then the rocks below them, then a fish that is unbothered by your existence.
Arrive before eleven or after four and you'll often have a cove to yourself. Take the steps down rather than the road — they always end somewhere better.
For Brands & Tourism Boards
This is a destination still being discovered, which makes for honest, unhurried content: an empty beach, a long table, a drive that turns into a day. It's the kind of story that makes people book before the crowds arrive.
